All my life I have been plagued by horrible, dry scaly skin on my shins that made me feel awkward even wearing skirts or shorts. I tried everything – drinking more water, exfoliating, moisturising after a shower, various creams and body lotions, bio oil, QV intensive (a bland pharmacy product recommended for eczema sufferers with extremely dry skin) and nothing worked.
Recently, I’ve bought a number of anti-aging products including day and night cream but prior to that I had bought this from Woolworths or Coles, can’t quite remember.
Garnier Youthful Radiance Night Cream. I bought this over a year ago, and barely used it, but dug it out again when I was organising my new purchases. Now, my new products are more expensive and smell nicer (not sure if the scent on the Garnier has faded since I opened it a while ago) so I’ve been using these on my face, and I considered what to do with this old jar. I could throw it out, use it alternately with the L’Oreal products, or just keep it as a spare.
For no particular reason one day when I was sorting through the bottles I thought, what the hell, I’ll put it on my legs. Not designed for that, obviously, night cream comes in small containers and is much more expensive than standard body lotions, but I didn’t use a lot of it. But it worked!!!
For the first time in my life, the skin on my legs is smooth and scale free! Although no longer on the Garnier Australia website, it seems to still be available at Chemist Warehouse (as of 20 Jun 2014) and really although it is a face cream, it’s not too expensive compared to specialty products.
For me, this is next to a miracle. If anybody else has had the same problem with dry skin on their shins, please give it a go and let me know if it works, or if it’s just me! I assume it has something to do with the anti-aging/skin plumping ingredients in the product, but I’m so glad I randomly decided to try this out!
